Embodiment in psychotherapy

‘’Embodiment in psychotherapy’’ is a continuous professional development course that consists of 3 one day workshops.
This CPD course is for you if you are a psychotherapist/student of a recognized psychotherapy modality and would like to improve your comprehension of embodiment as inevitable aspect of a psychotherapy process.
Who can attend: psychotherapists/counselors and students of a recognized psychotherapy modalities, psychologists, psychiatrists and other mental health professionals (learning specialists, special education teachers, social workers).

Course content: Issues that are beyond verbal ones are often met in psychotherapy/counseling process.

patterns, etc. In this course you will acquire basic embodiment principles and techniques which you can
apply in your practice regardless of your basic psychotherapy modality.

Each workshop is a combination of theory, experiential and practical exercises and techniques which you can later on incorporate in your psychotherapy practice. You will also receive a written handout in each  workshop.
Course is a unit, so you cannot apply for just one workshop. In case you skip one, you can attend it in one of the following courses. This course is being held twice a year.

Course structure:

Workshop 1: Embodiment, breath and mindfulness in psychotherapy

Within the first one day workshop, you will learn about the embodiment hierarchy model (N. Totton) and how to apply it through felt sense and ‘’wheel of awareness’’ (D. Siegel). These models may help you incorporate nonverbal aspects into psychotherapy process.

Workshop 2: Working with nonverbal and bodily symptoms

In the second workshop through learning basic principles of Polyvagal theory, you will learn how to become aware of embodied relational aspects. Also, you will learn basic principles in working with psychosomatic symptoms and how to use touch and movement in psychotherapy, so clients can move towards deeper resilience.

Workshop 3: Somatic attunement, transference and countertransference

In the last workshop, you will learn how the body is being objectified and how this reflects in
